MESOTHELIOMA IN WYOMING

Fortunately for Wyoming residents, the state has relatively low incidence of mesothelioma and other asbestos disease, due to its small population and relatively low use of asbestos.

The Centers for Disease Control have reported 44 mesothelioma deaths in Wyoming in the years 1999 to 2005 alone. Although this is lower than most other states, it is still far too high.

Moreover, mesothelioma has a long latency period. It usually takes anywhere from 10 to 50 years to develop mesothelioma after the initial exposure to asbestos. Thus, Wyoming residents may be diagnosed with mesothelioma well into the twenty-first century, although asbestos is rarely used today.
