Allison was born and raised in Hawaii. She attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree and attended Keio University in Tokyo, Japan on academic scholarship. While she embraced her studies and travels abroad, Allison always knew that she wanted to return to her roots in Hawaii.

Allison attended the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. She is the recipient of the CALI Award for Excellence in the Future for obtaining the highest grade in her class for Domestic Ocean and Coastal Law.
