Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard

Galiher DeRobertis & Waxman Has Represented Thousand Of Shipyard Workers

Galiher DeRobertis & Waxman has represented thousands of shipyard workers who contracted an asbestos-related disease because of their exposure to asbestos on ships that were overhauled and repaired at Pearl Harbor.

During the overhaul and repair of these ships, the shipyard workers had to disturb and remove the asbestos insulating products covering the pipes, valves, machinery and equipment that they needed to repair. These workers contracted asbestos-related diseases as a result of their exposure to asbestos dust, and were represented by our firm as they pursued their legal rights against the companies who sold these products without any warnings about the dangers of asbestos.

Home Ported Ships Containing Asbestos

Pearl Harbor Naval Station in Hawai‘i was of great strategic importance to the United States Navy, even before the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. Because of its location, Pearl Harbor has been integral to the protection and defense of America and the rise of its naval power in the Asian-Pacific region.

Pearl Harbor is the headquarters of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, the largest naval command in the world. The naval base at Pearl Harbor has played a key role in every Navy conflict in the Pacific, including World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. For over a century, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has provided supplies, refueling and much-needed repairs for Navy warships on their way to and from Asia and other locations around the Pacific Ocean.

In addition to the many ships that stopped there, Pearl Harbor has its own homeported fleet. Over the past thirty years, our firm has helped hundreds of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard workers and Navy veterans who were exposed to asbestos insulation as they worked on these homeported ships, as well as those ships that passed through Pearl Harbor.

Listed below are some of the ships that were homeported at Pearl Harbor.
